For a manufacture that has clocked up over 2,300 chronometry prizes, the Chronomaster collection is especially significant. It includes the mythical El Primero caliber, which has been constantly evolving since 1969. This legendary collection now features the most innovative developments alongside contemporary reproductions of the original model.1 5
The Academy bagged a Geneva Grand Prix d’Horlogerie award for its gyroscope module: like nautical instruments, it can defy gravity as the watch moves around with the wrist, without losing any of its precision. Regulated by a fusée and chain mechanism, this superlative timepiece is like none other in history.3 5
The Zenith’s most impressive invention since its legendary El Primero of 1969: Defy El Primero 21, a new chronograph whose turn it now is to herald a chronometric revolution. Its caliber is composed of two movements in one: one to display the time, and the other fully dedicated to a chronograph that is accurate to one hundredth of a second.4 5
Paying tribute to legendary pilots, the Pilot collection respectfully echoes the design of the wrist chronometers that were fashionable in the 1920s, featuring tanned leather straps, cathedral hands, luminous Arabic numerals, and generously-sized timepieces, making them easily readable in the cockpit in their day. An authentic, vibrant tribute to one of the finest chapters in Belle Epoque watchmaking.5 5
Founded in Le Locle in 1865 by visionary watchmaker Georges Favre-Jacot, Zenith gained swift recognition for the precision of chronometers, which have won the company 2,333 chronometry prizes in a century and a half of existence – an absolute record for pocket watches, on board timers and wristwatches. Having earned fame thanks to its legendary El Primero calibre–an integrated automatic column-wheel chronograph movement, launched in 1969 and endowed with a high frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour, the watchmaker Zenith has since developed over 600 movement variations. It is one of the few companies in the watchmaking industry whose manufacture currently stands at the exact spot where its founder built the first company workshop.
Legends are forever.
