For over a century, Mido has stood for technical innovations, mechanical watch movements and high-quality materials. Georges Schaeren founded his company in Le Locle, the heart of Switzerland's Jura mountain region, in 1918. The name Mido originally comes from the Spanish 'Yo mido', and means nothing more than 'I measure'. With the launch of the MULTIFORT in 1934, Mido set new benchmarks at the time. It developed the first watch to boast four combined properties: automatic winding, anti-magnetic, shock-proof and water-resistant. The elegant and unpretentious designs, based on prominent buildings, have entrenched themselves in the industry to this day.
