Highlights from the SIHH 2019
It was a unique, moving and impressive experience!
We attended SIHH from 14 to 17 January to check out the latest models for you. Like wide-eyed children during Christmas, we all gazed in wonder at the latest creations from the world of fine watchmaking. We would like to share these intriguing pieces with you, so here is our selection for you:
Bovet Récital 26 Brainstorm Chapter One
This first chapter of the Brainstorm® watch brand is made of sapphire. Sapphire is the second hardest material on earth after diamonds in addition to its crystal-clear transparency, and is actually far lighter than titanium as well!
The selected movement is controlled by the patented and double-sided flying tourbillon, which first appeared in the 2015 collection. The improved movement now contains a balance wheel with variable inertia for a timepiece that is more precise than ever thanks to a traditional hairspring.
Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1.1-2 “Oeuvre d’Or”
Chronometrie Ferdinand Berthoud unveils its “Œuvre d’Or” collection, which is a new artistic interpretation of its original creation – the Chronometer FB 1. The collection now includes two further variations, both echoing the precious metals of the earlier versions, in white gold (FB 1.1-2) and in rose gold (FB 1.2-1); however, the new variations are finished with original decorations. Each of these two new editions are limited to 5 pieces each.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Night and Day Prong Setting
With its prong setting, a truly impressive jewellery technique, the Rendez-Vous Night & Day jewellery watch pays tribute to the workmanship of the goldsmiths. A prong setting is a lengthy process, during which the goldsmith spends hours cutting, sorting and setting diamonds to bring out their full radiance.
Roger Dubuis Excalibur Huracán
The second calibre was developed in collaboration with Lamborghini. This new motor features a 12-degree angle balance escapement with an automatic winding mechanism that displays a rim-like rotor. The upper calibre contains a strut bar which is reminiscent of the V10 motor of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Car.
Ulysse Nardin FREAK X
A brand new work with a flying carousel that rotates around its own axis with no dial and no hands. FREAK, Ulysse Nardin’s most daring collection to date, awakens a real sense of yearning and shakes the very foundations of the status quo to their core.
