Art and commerce might at first appear incompatible, and yet these two worlds often cross paths and join hands. Instead of the hand, a baton is what relay race competitors pass on to each other, as quickly and efficiently at possible and while running at full speed.
It is in this spirit that I had the pleasure last spring of taking up the baton and of continuing the race with the Les Ambassadeurs group. Depending on the situation, this baton may be as light as a feather, like that of a conductor, or sometimes weigh heavier, making the going tougher. And it is precisely therein that the art of heading an establishment such as Les Ambassadeurs actually lies: in being capable of sensing the baton and making it your own, in order to wield it with a light and spirited touch.
Just as an orchestra stems from the encounter between various musicians and their instruments, Les Ambassadeurs is a concert performed by its staff members and their prestigious watch and jewellery partners: from delicate violins to powerful trombones, from resounding timpani to sonorous double basses… these instruments are played by brilliant soloists, accomplished musicians and flamboyant divas. And exactly like in an orchestra, it is not the musicians or instruments taken in isolation that represent the work, but instead the full range of musical voices rising up to form a powerful ensemble that delights the attentive audience.
I therefore bow to our orchestra, with which I look forward to performing classic works, cool jazz as well as music with its own groovy beat. We hope you will enjoy savouring the arts of watchmaking and jewellery, often vibrantly colourful but always perfectly in tune. Dear reader, I invite you, in leafing through the pages of this latest edition of L.A Magazine, to immerse yourself in a subtle and harmonious world where art and commerce unite as one.
