On September 20^th 2011, the extremely private setting of the ESPACE CONNAISSEUR hosted an exclusive evening held as part of a cycle of presentations on various themes, with this particular event being entirely dedicated to watches with an alarm function. The alarm function is one of the oldest horological complications and already existed in the 12^th century when it first appeared in monastery clocks. The guests, all passionate devotees of fine watchmaking, were guided by Gianfranco Ritschel in exploring the history of the alarm function, and were able to admire in detail the mechanisms serving to trigger this complication thanks to Wilfried Opalinski, head of production and watchmaker at the Vulcain watch company, who assembled a movement before their very eyes.
